cucumber (cucumis sativis)
-
Similar to aloe, at a glance, cucumber helps soothe skin, and reduce inflammation and redness (think cucumber slices on the eyes while masking).
In other words, if your skin is red or irritated, cool it down with cucumber ;)
-
Although cucumbers are typically 95%+ water, they do contain trace vitamins and minerals (vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, B vitamins, copper and manganese). The combination of high water-content and high trace mineral content make it an excellent humectant-adjacent active for toning and hydration properties.
Fun fact: the type of cucumber extract that we use in Star Bright also functions as a light, natural scent.
-
The flesh of cucumbers contains ascorbic acid and caffeic acid, making it the perfect skin diuretic, and silica, for connective tissue health and repair.
The specific extract used in Star Bright is anhydrous, not a hydro-glycolic extract. EWG score 1.
